A portfolio career speaker on AI and the future of work: from the field, not from the slides

Talks and workshops for conferences, organizations and leadership teams. On moving from a career ladder to an investment portfolio, on what AI is doing to the job market, and on building a community that creates trust and deals.

Most future-of-work talks are written in an office

They are full of forecasts, consulting-firm charts and words like "paradigm shift." The audience leaves feeling something big is happening, with no idea what to do on Monday morning.

I come from a different direction. Over the past decade I have held more than 4,000 in-depth conversations with executives, founders and professionals, interviewed dozens of community members in the weekly Lost in Y interview, and lived the "both-and" model myself, as an employee, a founder and a partner at the same time.

Every talk rests on real stories and sourced data, and ends with one action the audience can take this week.

What it sounds like

Two short clips from my conversation with Ofir Akiva on Radio Kesem 106FM. The clips are in Hebrew with Hebrew captions. The full conversation is on the blog.

Clip 1: You are the brand (44 seconds)

Once people realize they are the brand, their perspective changes: they start working for themselves too, and tying the assets they build to their own name, not only to their employer. On personal branding, and why your title belongs to your employer.

Clip 2: Many hats (21 seconds)

How I arrived at the portfolio career idea, and why anyone can wear several hats: a radio host who does other things, or someone who leads growth engines and builds communities.

Five clips from Bursa Live

From the Bursa Live (Channel 10) interview on the portfolio era and why the old career model is over. The clips are in Hebrew with Hebrew captions.

One person, many hats

What a multidisciplinary worker is, and how AI lets anyone be a one-man show.

Why not depend on a single paycheck

What I learned from 3,500 conversations about Gen Y burnout and the wish to realize potential beyond one job.

Nothing is stable anymore

The middle-layer layoffs at Amazon and Oracle, and why a portfolio career is the new safety net.

How AI turns you into a one-man show

An example from the community: a video creator who used to need a whole team, and today does it all himself.

What the pirates can teach us

The pirates as the first democratic society, and why in the AI era we have to take charge of our professional fate.

The talks

Portfolio careers: from a ladder to an investment portfolio

Why the single job became a single point of failure, and how to build a career with several anchors at once: a role, advisory work, a board seat, a venture. Built on Charles Handy's idea and on stories from the community, including executives who built a portfolio career after 50.

Especially relevant for audiences over 40, senior executives and career transition programs.

From doer to operator: what AI is doing to the job market

Organizations are getting leaner, management layers are disappearing (unbossing), and value is moving from those who execute to those who orchestrate. What it looks like on the ground, who loses and who gains, and what every manager needs to build now. Based on an article I wrote and on what I hear in conversations with executives.

Fits HR conferences, leadership teams and organizations rolling out AI.

Community as a growth engine: trust you can't buy with ads

How a job mailing list became a community of 3,500+ executives, and how a physicians' community became the most trusted marketing channel of a medtech product. The method, the mistakes, and the infrastructure that lets you run thousands in a few hours a week.

Fits companies, founders, marketers and municipalities.

Creative marketing with no budget

How to build presence, credibility and pipeline when there is no money for advertising. From building a global marketing engine from zero at a technology company, and from launching communities and events without a budget.

Fits startups, small businesses and entrepreneurship programs.

Why me

I'm not a professional speaker who moved to a hot topic. I'm an operator: I build growth engines for companies, place executives, and run a community. What I tell on stage is what I do on Monday morning.

My stage experience comes from the Israeli Knesset, where as an advisor and spokesperson I initiated and produced more than 30 conferences, and from a decade of meetups, panels and interviews in the community.

Who it fits

  • Professional conferences on HR, careers, entrepreneurship and the future of work.
  • Organizations rolling out AI that want to talk with their managers about what it means for them.
  • Management development, career transition and employment integration programs.
  • Communities, associations and municipalities that want a session with practical content.

How we work

We tailor the talk to the audience and the goal in a short call beforehand. Pricing is set after that call, based on format, length and location.

FAQ

What is the portfolio career talk about?
Moving from a single career ladder to a portfolio of professional anchors, why it is necessary today and how to start without leaving your job. With real stories from the community and one action for the coming week.
Is the talk for organizations, or only for individuals?
Both. In an organization it helps managers understand the shift in the job market, and helps the organization understand how to work with portfolio professionals and fractional executives.
How long is a talk?
A standard talk is 45 to 60 minutes including Q&A. A hands-on workshop runs two hours to half a day.
Can the content be tailored to a specific audience?
Yes, and I always do. In a call beforehand I learn who is in the room and what the goal is, and adjust the examples and the closing action.
Do you speak in English?
Yes. I speak in Hebrew and English, and have spoken abroad.
How much does a talk cost?
Pricing is set after a short call, based on format, length and location.
